The LNER Class P10 was a proposed 2-8-2T steam locomotive that was designed by Edward Thompson for medium-distance mixed traffic operations as well as for shunting duties.
Design
The LNER Class P10 would have featured similar features from the Thompson Class L1s as well as other tank engines that were built. It would feature a modified version of an LNER diagram 115 boiler, Walschaerts valve gear, the same leading and trailing wheel diameter, and the same driving wheel diameter at 5 ft 2 in (1.575 m).
It was supposed to be built by the North British Locomotive Co., Glasgow, Scotland, and would have been the LNER's only 2-8-2T to compete with the GWR's 2-8-2Ts.
