La Emperadora is the third studio album by Cuban-Mexican singer Niurka Marcos. It was released on October 17, 2007 by Pyramid Sound. La Emperadora features primarily a Latin sound, with the lyrical content dealing with topics such as female empowerment and love.
Background[edit]
Back in 1999 and 2001, Marcos had released two albums through Fonovisa, an American record label well known for producing music for Mexican artists. In January 2007, Marcos stated that she had split from the label and was by then working with an independent company on new music which was meant to be "100% danceable", on her own words, with salsa and reggaeton being the main rhythm focus.[1]
