Labkotec Oy [1] is a Finnish measurement equipment company that manufactures and provides globally measurement solutions[2] for various industrial applications, including hazardous areas[3]. Company's product range includes alarm devices for oil and grease separators[4], level switches and measurements[5], ice detection[6] and remote monitoring[7].

Oy Labko Ab 1964 – 2003[edit]
Aate A. Virtanen founded Oy Labko Ab in 1964, where the company is considered to have started its continuous operations[8]. The company’s business was specialized to the environmental protection products developed by Veikko Ilmasti. In the initial phase, business was based on surface measurement used to measure the water-oil interface and was later connected to another main production area, reinforced plastic containers and separators. [9]
In 1984, Oy Labko Ab increased the production of measuring instruments related to environmental protection by purchasing Elarne Ky, an electronics company that was merged with an electronics company Oy Labkotec Ab, founded in 1985. In 1989 the company founded a subsidiary named Labko Sverige Ab in Stockholm. In 1990 Oy Labko Ab became a group company, Labko-Companys. In 1995, Labko ID was founded by Labko-Company.
Wavin-Labko Oy 2003 – 2007[edit]
In 2003 Oy Labko Ab's family business became part of the international Wavin Group [10]. The company was named Wavin-Labko Oy and a subsidiary of Nordisk Wavin A/S, Denmark [11].
Labkotec Oy 2007 –[edit]
2007 the company was named Labkotec Oy when the measuring equipment business was transferred to Indutrade Group[12]
Organization[edit]
The Labkotec Group employs approximately 50 employees [13]. The company’s head office is located in Pirkkala [14], as well as production and product development. Other offices are located in Vantaa and Pori [15]. The Labkotec group consists of a German subsidiary Labkotec GmbH and sales points in Stockholm [16] and Shenzhen[17]
Products and services[edit]
Labkotec is known for its measurement and remote-control solutions suitable for demanding conditions [18].
The company manufactures and markets separator alarms, ice sensors, surface switches, surface level and flow measurement systems, equipment for explosive atmospheres, data communication devices, sensor technology and remote monitoring.
The company's alarms, measuring devices and remote monitoring are widely used in industry, wind turbines, water supply, service stations, raw material storage, pumping stations, airports and weather stations.
