Labun Hang Limboo is an Indian columnist, web developer, lyricist, and photographer based in Yuksom, West Sikkim, historically the first capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim. He works independently, providing web development and search engine optimisation services to businesses in the Himalayan tourism sector. He also writes columns on Sikkimese culture, travel, and philosophy, and produces music and landscape photography. He is a member of the Limboo (Tsong) community, one of the indigenous groups of Sikkim, and has written on the community's history and identity.
Early life
He was born and raised in Yuksom, West Sikkim, the elder of two sons of Prem Dhoj Limboo and Suk Maya Limboo; his younger brother is Nambun Hang Limboo.[1][2]
He completed a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) in computer science in 2014 at Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University in Gangtok, East Sikkim, an institution now known as Sikkim Professional University,[3] and separately completed a course in ASP.NET at The Edge Institute in Siliguri.[1]
He read widely in Western and Nepali literature from a young age, an influence he has cited in relation to his later work as a writer and editor.
Career
Limboo began working in web development after completing his degree in 2014, taking on projects for individuals, businesses, and organisations in Sikkim.[1] He works independently rather than as an employee of a firm, providing web development, search engine optimisation, content, design, and hosting services. His client work is concentrated among businesses in the Himalayan tourism and hospitality sector, including Limboo Homestay in Yuksom, Black Yak Expedition, Khechuperi Bamboo House, Zeal Adventures, Jeepa Travels Sikkim, Go Wild Expedition, Black Bird Tours, and Himalayan Exposure Tours and Treks of Uttarey.[1]
His development work uses HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, with a focus on custom WordPress theme development and plugin customisation.[1] He also handles security, hosting, and maintenance for client sites; according to his professional website, he maintains more than ten active business websites.[1]
According to the same source, he has written over one hundred articles across a range of industries and ghostwritten five books for clients, serving as editor on two others.[1] His ghostwriting is published under client names. He has also produced more than fifty social media graphics and promotional assets for Sikkim-based and other businesses.[1]
Writing
He writes as a columnist at his own website, labunhang.com, and has contributed to the Medium publication Sikkimnow, where he describes himself as a freelance columnist writing on philosophy, technology, spirituality, and motivation.[2][4]
Cultural and community writing
Part of his published writing concerns the Limboo (Tsong) community of Sikkim. His essay "The Tsong Limboo: Silenced Voices Among the Communities of Sikkim" (2025) covers the community's oral tradition of a ninth-century migration associated with the ancestral figure Uba Hang (Lasa Hang), the Lho-Men-Tsong-Sum treaty of 1642 that formalised the alliance of the Bhutia, Lepcha, and Limboo peoples at the founding of the Sikkimese kingdom, and the community's later political and cultural marginalisation.[5] He has also written "Yuksom Through My Indigenous Eyes", an account of his hometown from within the Limboo community.[6]
Travel writing
Limboo's travel writing focuses on trekking routes in West Sikkim, for which Yuksom is the main starting point. Articles including "Goechala Trek Difficulty: Is It Really That Hard? A Local's Honest Assessment" and an earlier version published on Medium give first-hand assessments of the Goechala and Dzongri trekking routes.[7][4] He has also written about lesser-known local sites, including the waterfall Sigey Pokthang Pokwa near Mangsabung, described in relation to local oral tradition.[8]
Philosophical and spiritual writing
He has written extensively in English about Master Godangel (Swami Baal Tapaswi Sadhguru Om Nanda), a Nepal-born spiritual leader associated with the Heavenly Nirvana Path, also known as the Sarva Dharma Path. His profile "Master Godangel: Biography, Mission and His Wisdoms" (2025) covers the leader's life, the Lovism philosophy, and the AAMASHA healing method; free public AAMASHA camps in Sikkim have drawn attention at the state level, including an appearance by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at a camp in Jorethang.[9][10] He has also published collections of original aphoristic writing, including "75+ Original Quotes About Loneliness and Isolation" and "60+ Powerful Motivational Quotes to Lift You Up When Life Brings You Down".[11][12]
Music
Limboo writes and composes original music, released under his own name on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and his YouTube channel.[1][13][14] His songs span devotional, festive, and personal themes. The Hindi bhajan "Jai Jai Gurudev Om Nanda" relates to the Heavenly Nirvana Path, while "Shubh Dipawali Hos" (2025) is a Nepali festive release tied to the Tihar season and its Deusi-Bhailo tradition. Other songs, including "Unspoken Weight of Love" and "I Am Complete on My Own", turn to personal and metaphysical subjects.[15]
Photography
He practises landscape photography, contributing images to Unsplash, Shutterstock, Dreamstime, and Pixabay.[1][16][17][18][19] His images cover high-altitude landscapes of West and North Sikkim, including Mount Kanchenjunga and Mount Pandim as seen from the Dzongri and Goechala trails, together with monasteries, villages, and other local landmarks.
His photographs have been used editorially, with photo credit, by several publications. Open Canada, published by the Canadian International Council, credited his Pixabay image of the Sikkim Himalayas as the lead photograph for a September 2025 article on Himalayan glacial melting.[20] The travel publication TripXL credited his Unsplash photograph of Katao, near Lachung, in an article on North Sikkim destinations.[21] His photographs have also appeared, with credit, in travel coverage of Sikkim by Travel + Leisure Asia and Lifestyle Asia.
Personal life
Limboo lives in Yuksom. He has described an interest in reading on spirituality and self-help, and in spiritual philosophy, subjects that recur in his writing.[2][22]
