Lagos State in Yoruba Ìpínlẹ̀ Èkó is one of the 36 state in Nigeria, it is located in south west of Nigeria. Of the 36 states, it is both the most crowded and littlest in region. Limited toward the south by the Bight of Benin and toward the west by the international border with Benin Republic, Lagos State borders Ogun State toward the east and north making it the main Nigerian state to line just a single other state. Named for the city of Lagos "the most crowded city in Africa" the state was shaped from the Western District and the previous Government Capital Region on 27 May 1967.
