Lakes are an emo/math-rock/indie band from Watford, UK. The current line-up is Roberto Cappellina (vocals, guitar), Blue Jenkins (vocals, glockenspiel, keyboard, percussion), Matt Shaw (drums, guitar), Rob Vacher (guitar), Gareth Arthur (guitar) and Charlie Smith (bass). They have released two full-length albums; The Constance LP (2019) and Start Again (2021). The band is signed to Big Scary Monsters Recording Company (UK), Know Hope Records (US) and Friend Of Mine Records (Japan).[1][2]

History[edit]

Lakes began as a songwriting project between Matt Shaw and Roberto Cappellina in 2016. It was expanded to a six-piece band in 2018 just before the release of their debut single Michigan and the band's first live performance. The first two EPs were self-released by the band and their debut album The Constance LP was released through The LP Cafe in the UK and Friend Of Mine Records in Japan. The band released a 7" in 2020 entitled This World Of Ours, It Came Apart which featured guest vocals by Dan Lambton of the band Real Friends (band) on the song Kids.[3][4] Their second album Start Again was released in July 2021.[5][6]
