Lamentasyon
Lamentasyon is a 2021 Filipino psychological horror film directed by Chino Pereira. Synopsis
Samuel is a young, passionate, and newly arrived hopeful expatriate in Dubai. While his younger sister in the Philippines lacks financial support for her studies and their needs are tied up with his avaricious mother, he is obliged to become the breadwinner of the family. Samuel's idealistic hope turns into his worst nightmare when his family demands abruptly.
After his mother becomes engaged in misconduct of finances and becomes a paramour to a drug addict, Samuel undergoes overseas employment just to meet such demands. Despite the pleading of Samuel regarding such scrutinized arrears and such neglect from a heartless mother, Samuel falls into great despair and debt.
Mysterious apparitions and unexplained occurrences put Samuel into deep trepidation. Meanwhile, Samuel's unraveling plan is to abandon his work and confront his unresponsive mother in times of need.
Soon after, Samuel, enthralled by the people around him expressing their sympathy and concern, experiences strange occurrences that make him distrustful of everyone, including himself. With the help of Gerry, his roommate, who seems to be aware of what's happening with Samuel, both meet their end with a peculiar revelation that makes the embodiment of Lamentasyon.
