Landing gear collapse

A landing gear collapse is an incident in where an aircraft's landing gear collapses on landing or takeoff, and in rare cases, during taxiing or while the plane is at the jet bridge. Most of the landing gear collapses end in the aircraft being written off. In rare cases, the aircraft is repaired.[1][2]
Examples with fatalities
- Korean Air Lines Flight 015, a Boeing 747 which suffered a gear collapse and caught fire. 15 people died and the aircraft was written off.
- The 2025 Scottsdale Airport collision happened when a Learjet 35 collided with a Gulfstream aircraft. A person on the Learjet died.
- Aeroflot Flight 1492 crashed on landing at Sheremetvyevo after the aircraft was struck by landing following a gear collapse.
Examples with no fatalities
- FedEx Express Flight 910 had a gear collapse and caught fire. All two people survived.
- FedEx Express Flight 14 had a gear collapse on landing at Newark, lost a wing and flipped. All four people survived.
- Southwest Airlines Flight 345 had a nose gear collapse on landing at LaGuardia. All people survived, but the aircraft was damaged.
- RED Air Flight 203, a MD-80 suffered a left gear collapse at Miami. Three people were injured.
