The Launceston Tornadoes are an Australian basketball team based in Launceston, Tasmania. The Tornadoes compete in the Women's NBL1 and play their home games at Elphin Sports Centre. For sponsorship reasons, they are known as the St. Lukes Health Launceston Tornadoes.
Team history
The Launceston Tornadoes Basketball Club Inc, a women’s basketball club, was formed in 1993.[1]
They competed in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) from 1994 to 2008, winning the championship in 1995.
After the demise of the SEABL, the Tornadoes moved to the NBL1 South Conference in 2019.[2][3]
