LaunchCapital is a venture capital firm that specializes in providing seed investments to early stage startup companies.[1] The company is part of the Pritzker-Vlock Family Office. As a family office, the company have the option to not deploy funds according to short-term capital cycles. LaunchCapital was founded in 2008 and has offices in New York, Boston, San Francisco, and New Haven. [2]

Founded by Karen Pritzker, Michael Vlock, and Elon Boms in 2008, LaunchCapital invests in early stage companies neglected by traditional venture capital outfits that are looking to invest in more mature companies. The firm makes investments of $125,000 on average in startups that typically haven’t raised a first round of venture capital.[3] In 2017, the Pritzker-Vlock Family Office announced additional funding allocation to its venture arm in addition to staffing expansions.

Elon Boms: Elon co-founded LaunchCapital in January 2008. He is a lecturer at the Yale School of Management on private equity and venture capital. [4]

Cliff Sirlin: Managing Director at LaunchCapital. Prior to joining LaunchCapital in 2017, Cliff was the co-founder of mdenergy (sold to EnerNOC[5]), Cleaner Options (sold to Zoots),[6] and Domino Media Group. [7]

Woody Benson: Executive in Residence at Bentley University, Woody’s has been named Mass Telecom CEO of the Year and Top 50 VC by AlwaysOn Media.[8] He took public MCK Communications (over $1B market capitalization[9]) and the first investor of LogMeIn (over $5B market capitalization[10]). [11][12]

David Shen: Dave was an early employee at Yahoo!  Dave also designed Apple’s first ergonomic keyboard, first digital camera, and the first 17-inch multimedia monitor.[13]
