Laura Cassidy

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Laura Cassidy is a native of Louisiana who graduated *summa cum laude* with a degree in theatre and music from Samford University. Laura is the daughter of George Ratzlaff, award-winning musician who is a Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy award nominee.

Laura began her film career where every aspiring creator begins: Birmingham, Alabama. Laura was a college actress who won an international award for an original composition for the play, *Shadowlands*. Laura moved to Los Angeles to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an actress. After several frustrating years (ranging from Comedy Central commercials to local theatre to a reproduction of Michael Jackson's Thriller performance) she was given the advice "If opportunity doesn't knock, build your own door" (Milton Berle), and started her first production company. Laura now resides in New Orleans, is Producer and Creative Director for her company, Indie Darling Films, and has produced several short films and feature films (including *Phony*, which played at 21 festivals world-wide and is distributed through Indie Rights). However, Laura is still perhaps best-known for a bit role in the cult classic, awesomely-bad movie *Birdemic*, a career move that will haunt her dreams and her IMDb rankings forever.

Louisiana Film Prize Laura Cassidy's first entry in the Louisiana Film Prize earned a Top Five finish for the short film *Unicorn Poop*.
