Laura Lake Actress born 13th June 1993 in Shrewsbury England originally known as Laura Walford trained at the Urdang Academy for musical theatre and professional dance. She is an actor, singer, dancer, voice over artist, special action performer, stunt performer and is currently training for the British Stunt Register.
Early Life and Career:
Before Urdang Laura was always interested in the arts, at the age of 4 she attended “Carmichaels School for Ballet” until she was 10, during that time she also joined “Telford Stage School”. Due to her father’s career the family relocated to Herefordshire. Once settled Laura joined “The Hereford Stagecoach “and joined the “Stagecoach Actors Agency” this aided her to landing roles on TV programs such as “Basil Brush” and “Intergalactic Patrick”. When Laura started High School she joined “Weobley and Dilwyn Dance school” now known as “Aspire Dance Studios”, with them Laura competed in many competitions and festivals. During High School Laura was cast as the lead “Tallulah” in the schools musical “Bugsy”. When Laura went to the Hereford Sixth Form she studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Dance, Drama and Music. Whilst at the Sixth Form Laura performed as “Nikki” in “Sweet Charity” and “Mrs Grubach & Elsa” in Steven Berkoff’s “The Trial”, she also gained distinctions in her Lamda Grade 8 Musical Theatre exam and Grade 8 Speaking exam. During Sixth Form Laura attended “Insteps Dance School”, “The Hereford Ballet School” and was a teacher at the local am-dram club “Dizzy Drama”. Laura’s parents also had her help in the family businesses throughout High School and College. Her family had two shops as well as being foster careers; one was a Confectionery shop called “Bumbles” and the other was a Jewellery shop called “Bling”.
Once at Urdang (2012-2015) Laura found a deeper love for performing; During her time at Urdang other than the in house shows, she performed as a dancer in the opening show for 2014 “Strictly Come Dancing”, Laura was a model and dancer for the “My Burberry” perfume Campaign. During her time at Urdang Laura also worked as a makeup artist for Lancôme at Harrods on the weekends and worked as a Hostess at the Chiltern Firehouse in the evenings to help fund her dream.
Since graduating Urdang (2015) Laura worked as a dancer for P&O “Headliners” aboard the “Ventura”. 2016 Laura performed in “Head & Shoulders” Commercial as a showgirl directed by Thunderlips. That year led her to be an actress in the Chinese film “Passage of my Youth” playing Russian student “Alexandra Dawson”, being a model for the Parisian designer “Marion Waterkeyn”, being a choreographer for “Flow Dance London” and having smaller featured roles on programs such as channel 4’s “Loaded”.
In 2017 Laura left the UK for Los Angeles. She performed in numerous music videos as the lead and as a model/dancer, those were; ‘Snoop Dogg and C-Tru “California Party”, Rick Star “James Dean”, Ramon and Moe “Ball Till You Fall” and Kap Kallous “Milky”. Laura was the choreographer for the Artist Chaz Monet’s California shows. Laura was also a model for a dating company called “Seeking”, clothing company “Ball Till You Fall” and walked the runways for Vixen Model Runway House and the DJ Khaled Penthouse Runway show in Los Angeles. During her time is Los Angeles she also trained with Brian Friedman, Bryn Nicole and Galen Hooks whilst working on her music and creating her first EP called “Control”. With the company “Ball Till You Fall” Laura also helped produce and was featured in a concept video to help raise money for “Breast Cancer Awareness”.
2018 Laura returned to the UK, retrained with “Firearms for Film and TV” and with the “British Action Academy”; Steering her career towards action acting and stunts. During this year she was an actress in “Autopsy: The Last Hours of Carrie Fisher” Laura played the Air Hostess ‘Maria Gonzalez’”, a presenter for CBBC’s “The Big Family Festival” and a dancer for “MAC Cosmetic’s Christmas Live Show”.
2019 Laura was a presenter and MC for the ICE Gaming show at the excel London, after this there was a shift in Laura’s career, involving more acting and television work. During 2019 Laura worked on the following productions; HBO’s “Pennyworth season 1”, Laura had a small walk on role in the Scarlet Rope. PBS Masterpiece “Sanditon” Season 1, Laura was used for all 8 episodes. Originally cast due to her extreme likeness for “Elizabeth Bennett” from Andrew Davies previous series “Pride and Prejudice”, Laura was also employed as a dancer in the series. HBO’s “Avenue 5” Laura played a press member, Netflix “Bridgerton Season 1” Laura was cast as a giggling French debutante called Vivian Trudeau. If you watch carefully, you can see all of Laura’s costumes were inspired by the earlier works of Parisian designer Coco Chanel. Laura was then rehired by the same choreographer as “Sanditon Season 1”; Sammy Murray to be a dancer in Netflix’s Sherlock Holmes inspired series “The Irregulars”. After this Laura booked her first stunt role as an ‘English Solider’ in Amazon Prime’s “The Spanish Princess”. During December Laura worked as a model for “Argos”, she was used as a model for the online store. Laura was also in three commercials that year; “Coors Light”, “Converse” and “EE 5G”.
2020 Laura was rehired to be an MC and presenter for the ICE Gaming show, she was then booked as stunt performer in critically acclaimed HBO’S “I May Destroy You” working with Julian Spencer. Laura was then cast as the lead “Krista” in a series called “Finder’s Fee” directed by the talented Nick Blair. After this and the set back of covid Laura was hired as an actor in Arrow Media’s “American Monsters”, Laura played the role of a detective trying to solve the case of the ‘Clayton murder’. Laura was cast in two more action roles that year “Pennyworth season 2” as a young woman jumping out of gun fire and “Hanna season 3” were she played the role of a Trainee. Laura was the lead in the band ‘Mountain Caller’s music video “I Remember Everything”. That year also led to Laura beginning to develop her directing skills, during COVID Laura developed, produced, and directed an action feature film called “Hunted”. Laura also started her training journey with Take 3 Action Academy.
2021 Laura started off the year as a precision driver for the new Apple TV series “Suspicion”, she then worked as a stunt woman on “Britannia” season 3 as a Druid performing Flaming Archery. After this she was rehired by Julian Spencer as an action performer on “The Great season 2” and on Netflix’s up and coming series “Half Bad”. During this time Laura has worked as a special action performer/stunt performer on the new tv series Apple TV “Slow Horses”, HBO’s “Pennyworth Season 3” as armed police, CBS “The Man Who Fell to The Earth”, Marvels “
” and has been working on Tom Hardy and Gareth Evans Netflix feature film “Havoc” as an actress and stunt performer under the guidance of Jude Poyer. This year has also led to Laura being rehired by Sammy Murray for PBS Masterpiece “Sanditon season 2” as a dancer, Laura also started her motion capture journey this year with the Mo Cap Agency, she also performed in a music video for the artist Pinella, Laura was the lead for two feature films “Choices” and “Locked” directed by Nick Blair and was the Lead for web series “Quarantine Leaps”.
