Biography
Laura Souguellis is a young musician born in Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo. Daughter of a poet and a psychiatrist, divorced since she was 2 years old, Laura was a child matured by the absence of her father and her close relationship with her mother. As a child, she already showed an interest in music and poetry, having started taking private piano and guitar lessons in pre-adolescence. During this period, she began dedicating herself to the worship ministry of her local church, where she developed her skills on the keyboard and in the ministry of worship. It was during this same period that she became an orphan, losing her father at 13 and her mother at 16, both to sudden health-related deaths. Early in her adult life, she lived in different cities across the country, dedicating herself to local music ministries.[2][3]
Between 2011 and 2013, Laura moved to Belo Horizonte, where she began studying at the RHEMA Institute and at the School of Ministers.[4] Later, she moved to Florianópolis where she began leading worship at the Florianópolis House of Prayer (FHOP).[5]
In 2013, she was invited by the Dunamis movement, from São Paulo city, to record for the online program Fornalha Dunamis, where she recorded her version of the song "Holy Spirit" in Portuguese, "Santo Espírito". In addition to these songs, she also recorded "Mais Perto" and "Liberdade", Portuguese versions of "Closer" and "Freedom Reigns". In 2015, she returned to record another Fornalha Dunamis album, this time with her original songs: "Amor Que Enche", "Em Teus Braços", "Filho Amado", among others.[6]
In 2017, Laura released her second solo album, an entirely authorial project in English, entitled Live On The Second Floor.[7] That same year, she moved to Dallas, where she began studying worship at CFNI and also became a worship leader at Christ For The Nations Worship.[8]
