Lauren Elizabeth McAvoy (born 16 January 1987) is an English fashion model. In September 2007 she won Cycle 3 of Britain's Next Top Model. Her prize was a contract with Ruby & Millie Cosmetics, a modelling contract with Models 1, and a six-page fashion editorial and cover for Company Magazine. Early life[edit]

McAvoy was born in Wickford, Essex. She graduated from college with a civil engineering diploma. Before entering Britain's Next Top Model, she started acting and modelling at Sylvia young theatre school and starred in a commercial for Cindy dolls, and later in an issue of Sugar Magazine. McAvoy is represented all over the globe: Germany (talents, Munich. Model team, Hamburg), Spain, Brazil, South Africa (boss), Australia, Asia, USA (elite) Milan and Denmark (Unique models)

Britain's Next Top Model[edit]

McAvoy appeared in Cycle 3 of Britain's Next Top Model. She started as a weaker contestant, but as the competition progressed she started showing more and more versatility and became one of the front runners, despite appearing in the bottom two three times. She was chosen over the competition favourite Rebecca White to go into the final two. In the final judging, she was chosen over White and runner-up Louise Watts due to her overall performance on the runway, the photo shoots throughout the competition and her overall attitude towards the business. The main judge on the show, Lisa Snowdon, said: "Lauren epitomises a worthy winner...She's got a real sparkle about her, and that's proved to be her driving force."[1] McAvoy never received a first call-out on the show until winning over Louise in the top 2; she is the first Top Model winner to never achieve that recognition.

Modelling career[edit]

As the winner, McAvoy received a modelling contract with European modelling agency Models 1. She appeared in the October edition of Company Magazine with a six-page editorial spread. She appeared with runner-up Louise Watts on GMTV on 3 September 2007 to discuss her time on the show.

She appeared in a Babyliss "Straighten As You Dry" commercial.

She has also since been signed with Elite Model Management in their Miami Division. She is the first Britain's Next Top Model winner or contestant to be signed with an American modelling agency. She is also the first of the show's winners to have her portfolio on the Models 1 website moved from 'New Faces' to 'Women'.

McAvoy modelled for Gok Wan's Channel 4 show Gok's Fashion Fix, representing the "high street" side and the "high end" side in the following week. She also did a runway walk on The Fashion Show, aired on ITV2 (11 September 2008), also featuring previous BNTM contestant Abigail Clancy, as one of the three hostesses. She was filmed performing another runway walk for The Fashion Show on 27 September for an episode due to be aired 9 October. In 2010, McAvoy featured on Top Gear as the model to test the effects of wind on hair in the then new Porsche 911 Turbo and Audi R8 V10 Spyder with Jeremy Clarkson driving. She walked in the live final of Britain's Next Top Model series 6.

McAvoy has modelled in cities such as Hong Kong, New York City, London, Miami and Barcelona. She currently lives in Miami, Florida, and intends to move to New York City.

In 2011 she appeared in The Wanted's music video for their song "Glad You Came".[2]
