Lauren Morton
Lauren Morton is the Associate Head Women's Lacrosse Coach at Duke University. In her third year as a member of the Duke Lacrosse staff, Coach Lauren Morton manages the offensive unit and oversees the draw control specialists. She is often referred to by her players and follow coaches as "Mort." In her early years, Morton was a stand out players on the Boston University Women's Lacrosse Team. Her personal success, along with her passion for the sport of lacrosse, and love for her players, allow her to be one of the best collegiate coaches in the world. [1]
Early Life[edit]
Lauren Morton was born on January 14th, 1986 to Kathleen McCrudden and Robert Morton. She was raised in Glenside, Pa. and attended Gywneed Mercy High School. In addition to being a standout on the lacrosse field, Morton also led the Gywneed Mercy field hockey team, where she served as captain her senior year. As a four-year Honor Roll student, Lauren also excelled academically.
Boston University[edit]
Lauren Morton was a member of the Women's Lacrosse team at Boston University from 2004 to 2008. In her collegiate career, Lauren was a dominant midfielder who served as a four-year letter winner, and a two-year captain. Morton was recognized for her outstanding performance on the lacrosse field throughout her playing career. Consistently among the point-leaders on the team, Morton earned several distinctions through her career at Boston University. In her freshmen campaign, Morton played an important role on the Boston University team and was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. As a Junior, Morton was named America East Player of the Week twice. She received All-America recognition from the IWLCA as a senior and was named the team most valuable player. Morton graduated from Boston University in 2008 with a degree in Psychology. [2]
Duke University[edit]
Currently, Lauren Morton is Duke Women's Lacrosse Associate Head Coach. She coaches along side of Head Coach, Kerstin Kimel, and Assistant Coach Lars Keil. Morton began her coaching career at Duke in 2014, where she assisting in leading the team to the Final Four. She is primarily an offensive coach, but also works with the draw control specialists. Lauren Morton previously coached at Boston University, Lafayette and Georgetown before coming to Duke. [3]
Personal Life[edit]
Lauren Morton is a lover of dogs and the occasional spray tan. Morton's favorite athlete is Philadelphia Eagle's star safety, Brain Dawkins. Lauren Morton is an accomplished trombonist. She received a state medal for her outstanding performance in the 6th grade. Sons of Anarchy and Scandal are Morton's favorite television shows. [4]
