Lauren Waters is a fictional character in the British teen drama Britannia High, portrayed by Georgina Hagen.
Series 1
In episode 1, Lauren's central episode, it is revealed that, unlike the other students at Britannia High, Lauren did not have to audition and was invited by the school's head. Lauren's enemy Claudine Cameron reveals this to the group, who mostly forget about it, but Claudine refuses to let it go. Lauren has difficulty learning the dance routines, and when the group is given a week to learn a routine for an assessed performance, she panics and struggles even more. After failing every attempt at a lift, Danny steps in to help, but without success. On performance night, Lauren initially decides to quit but performs first, refusing the lift, which Danny understands. However, after Claudine's constant criticism, Lauren changes her mind, does the lift, and passes out shortly after. Lauren soon attracts the attention of Britannia High's heartthrob, Danny Miller, who eventually asks her out after they kiss. This further fuels Claudine's hatred of Lauren, as she also has feelings for Danny.
When Lola's situation makes the news and she experiences a dramatic change in attitude, Claudine and Lauren become closer, exchanging makeup tips, texts, and magazines. This is short-lived, however. When Claudine successfully breaks up Danny and Lauren's three-month relationship by taking the card and rose Danny left on Lauren's bed, making Lauren think he forgot, Danny begins dating Claudine. Lauren tries to move on by befriending Claudine, and when she fears she might have multiple sclerosis, Danny struggles with his feelings for both Lauren and Claudine.
When her test results come back negative, Danny asks Lauren out again shortly afterward, but with her renewed zest for life, she declines. Danny, upset and rejected, returns to Claudine and asks her out using the same lines he used on Lauren. Claudine, however, knows that Danny chose Lauren and also declines. The series ends with the three remaining as friends.
