She was the first woman of color to be the main news anchor at CHRO-TV[5]. After working in the Pembroke and Ottawa area, she was recruited by American news consulting firm Magid and Associates, and went on to work for CBS News, EXTRA, and MY9/FOX New York. For a brief time she returned to Canada to work at CHCH-TV, anchoring the main newscast with veteran anchor Dan Maclean. She then returned to the US and worked at Radio Disney and spent time co-hosting events at Walt Disney World in Florida. McGee was also mentioned in the Thank-you section of P Diddy's Bad Boy Greatest Hits Volume I Album for her reporting on the world tour. On the entertainment show EXTRA, she conducted a well known interview with shoe designer Manholo Blahnik, who told her he didn't know why celebrities loved his shoes so much. Red carpet reports from the Grammy's and MTV Awards have been some of her other exclusive assignments. Also known for her volunteer work, she hosted Omni -TV's Caribana Parade and several Diwali events both in Canada and the U.S.
