Lawing is an unincorporated community on the Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, United States. Lawing is located on the eastern shore of Kenai Lake along the Alaska Railroad and Seward Highway, 21 miles (34 km) north of Seward.[2]

The community takes its name from Nellie Neal Lawing, best known as "Alaska Nellie". Her roadhouse, whose homestead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, became a major tourist resort. When a post office was established in the area in 1924, it was named Lawing in her honor.[3]
