Lawrence S. Lifschultz is an American journalist who has worked as an investigation journalist and South Asia correspondent for the Far Eastern Economic Review, The Guardian, The Economic and Political Weekly, and The Nation.[1][2] He covered many incidents during and after the liberation war of Bangladesh through his journalism and books.[3] In 1986, he covered the detailed accounts of the controversial trial of Colonel Abu Taher in the international media.[4] He is best known for his book Abu Taher's Testament: Bangladesh - An Unfinished Revolution. In the book, he presented the politically sensitive history of Bangladesh during and after the liberation war through the commentary of Colonel Abu Taher. The book was banned in Bangladesh for many years after its publication.[5] He coedited the book "Hiroshima’s Shadow: Writings on the Denial of History and the Smithsonian Controversy" with reporter and writer Kai Bird.
