Layale Chaker
Layale Chaker is a violinist and composer from Lebanon. Born in August 1990, she has received training at the Lebanese National Conservatoire, Paris Conservatoire and Royal Academy of Music in London. A Rolex Mentor and Protégé Prize Finalist, she is also the recipient of the Royal Academy of Music 2018 Guinness Award, Ruth Anderson 2017 Competition Prize, and Prix Nadia et Lili Boulanger 2019.
Chaker is featured as a soloist, performer, improviser and composer in concerts, recitals and projects around Europe, the Middle-East, North and South America and Asia, performing in Germany, France, Greece, Italy, the UK, the US, Canada, Switzerland, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Indonesia and Argentina, as well as in several festivals, namely Aldeburgh Festival, Junger Künstler Festival Bayreuth, the Lucerne Festival for Contemporary Music, Impuls’ Festival, Beethoven Festival Bonn and Avignon Festival among others. She has collaborated with West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, Oxford Orchestra, New World Symphony, Diaphonique, Holland Baroque, and leads the Sarafand chamber music ensemble.
Layale has been named a "Rising Star" by BBC Music Magazine. Her album "Inner Rhyme" was released in January 2019 on In a Circle Records and has received considerable praise from critics.
