Layla Shaikley
Layla Shaikley (June 28, 1985) is an Iraqi American entrepreneur who co-produced the viral Mipsterz "Somewhere in America" music video. Shaikley is the first Muslim American woman to raise over $20 million in venture capital[1] while wearing hijab, and is one of the co-founders of Wise Systems.
Personal life and education Shaikley was born on June 28, 1985 in Upland, California to Iraqi immigrants[2] and is one of six[3]. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine before attending Cal Poly Pomona for her Master’s in Architecture and MIT for her Master of Science in Architecture[4]. Layla is a mother of two.[5]
Public Image Shaikley is the host of Muslims Doing Things, where she chronicles her career and the careers of other Muslims. Shaikley serves on the advisory board of the Secret Life of Muslims[6], directed by Joshua Seftel, which has received both an Emmy and a Peabody nomination.
