Leah Mikel Montes (née Gloria; born March 29, 1978) is a former American child actress. She is best known for her role as Luci in the Barney & the Backyard Gang videos and the first two seasons of Barney & Friends.

In 1988, Montes' agent from J&D Talent Agency got her an audition for Barney & the Backyard Gang.[1] Montes auditioned and landed the role of Luci when she was nine years old.[2] Montes portrayed the role for all eight videos produced.

After Barney & the Backyard Gang ended, the video series was spun into a television series titled Barney & Friends. Montes continued to portray "Luci" for Season 1 of the show and a guest appearance in Season 2. Despite never co-starring with each other on the show, prior to being on the show, Montes knew Patty Wirtz, the original voice of B.J., from when she taught acting at Casa Mañana.[3]

Later career

Montes attended a mini reunion on the Barney & Friends set at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas with a few cast members from the first three seasons.

After her time on Barney & Friends, she appeared in one of the Totally For Kids PSAs for the Fox Network's children's block, Fox Kids in 1994 titled Sensitivity. After Sensitivity, Montes decided to quit acting to become a hairstylist. She currently owns her own hair salon in Fort Worth, Texas.==Personal life== Montes attended Fossil Hill Middle School, northeast of Fort Worth, Texas.[4] Following her time on Barney & Friends, Montes would get recognized in public for her role as Luci.[5] While appearing in the 2022 documentary I Love You, You Hate Me, after her time on the show, Montes admitted that people would tease and make fun of her for acting in a show aimed at preschoolers.[6]
