Leatherdaddy[1][2] is a 2019 Australian and French independent comedy/drama feature film written & directed by Nicky Murphy and produced by Zeïna Thiboult for Rareamazing. Leatherdaddy stars Naomi Greene as Zoe, and Antoine Dumortier as Michel, and takes place at a Parisian house party over the course of one night cutting between different friendship groups and their associated worlds.[3]

Plot[edit]

During the graduation celebrations at the lavish Parisian apartment of Michel; Zoe, an intoxicated American exchange student, receives word from the immigration department that she needs to be at the French prefecture the following morning for an important meeting to renew her visa which is set to expire the following week. While preparing to leave, Zoe discovers that her keys have been stolen from her bag. In order to renew her visa and stay in France Zoe must find her keys and escape the seemingly endless party of archetypal 20-somethings while navigating through their various conflicts.[4][5]

Production and Release[edit]

The script was written by Nicky Murphy in 2016 and production began in May, 2017. The exhibition was themed around micro-budget cinema and the making of Leatherdaddy.[7][8][9]

As an independent and experimental project created by the collaboration of a group of volunteers, the film's budget was less than $10,000. Working together throughout the entire production and self-financing the film; Leatherdaddy marks the first major collaboration of director Nicky Murphy and producer Zeïna Thiboult who form the couple and duo Nicky & Z.[10][11]
