Lee Biggins

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lee Biggins (born August 1977 in Fleet, Hampshire) is an award-winning entrepreneur.[1][2]. He is the co-founder and managing director of the CV-Library LTD brand which was created in 2000 and consists of CV-Library and Resume-Library. [3].

Early Career

After leaving Court Moore School with some GCSEs, Biggins took on a role as an apprentice carpet-fitter in his father’s carpet business.[4]

In 1999, Biggins left the family business to find a new job but quickly grew frustrated with the process. In an interview with The Sunday Times in 2014, Biggins said: “It would have taken me forever to send my CV to all these recruitment agencies. I was impatient.”[5]

Biggins co-founded CV-Library Ltd in 2000 with his then business partner Brian Wakem[6], using a £9,000 bank loan[7]. The business made no money in its first few years and started to gain traction in 2004[8].

CV-Library

As of 2017, the business is worth an estimated £200 million, and is the third-largest employment website in the UK. The job board boasts the UK’s largest CV database of over 12 million CVs[9]. The business now bases its headquarters in Biggins’ home town of Fleet, Hampshire where it has two offices.

Biggins is now the sole owner of the business, after completing a seven-figure internal buyout in 2013[10]. In 2016, the business rolled out three regional offices, expanding its presence to London, Birmingham and Manchester[11]. 2017 saw the company launch in Ireland[12].

Resume-Library

In 2015, Biggins launched Resume-Library, a global sister site to UK-based CV-Library, and in May 2016 Resume-Library opened its first US office in Boston, MA[13]. In July 2016 Resume-Library was awarded the Silver Award for Startup of the Year, at the US-based Golden Bridge Business and Innovation Awards[14][15].

Awards and Recognition

Both Biggins and CV-Library have been recognised with a variety of industry and entrepreneurial awards and accolades. CV-Library has been awarded the prestigious ‘Best Generalist Job Board’[16] [17] award for three years’ running at the National Online Recruitment Awards, and in 2017 The Global Recruiter recognised the employment website as ‘Best Job Site’[18]. The business has received over 100 awards nominations and wins since 2000[19]

In 2012 Biggins became part of the Young Guns alumni of young entrepreneurs[20], and in 2013 he was recognised as Entrepreneur of the Year at the Inspire Business Awards[21]. 2013 also saw Biggins winning the "Silver Social Media Entrepreneur of the Year" award at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards[22]. He has also been listed as a finalist at the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards in both 2014 and 2016[23][24]

In 2017, Biggins was awarded CEO of the year at the TV250 Awards[25]
