Lee Kok Chuan (born September 17, 1983) known professionally as KC Veins (or as KC Lee in the broadcast industry) is a broadcast system integrator, Entrepreneur and visionary. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Amrick Sdn. Bhd.[1] and also on notable social media websites such as Lockabee[2], FindnMatch[3], FindnMeet[4] and Givastory.[5]
Early life
KC was born on September 17, 1983, in Assunta Hospital[6], Petaling Jaya, Malaysia[7] and was the third child to the late Lee Inn Cho @ Lee Kam Chee. His father was a businessman specializing in selling and repairing photocopy machines which was a very reputable business during the 80's and 90's and his mother Kee Pek Hong was an enduring housewife.
His ancestors were from Guangzhou, China who coincidentally both had the same birth date and after marriage decided to migrate to Melaka after the second world war and lived throughout the infamous 1948 Malayan Emergency[8]. They both owned a small photocopy and photography studio shop lot, one of the very first few at Jalan Bendahara downtown just opposite of the famous 9-Storey Flat[9] which was the highest building in Melaka during the 1960's. KC and his three other siblings were raised in a small household in Petaling Jaya. He first studied in Chim Kindergarten and then later at SRK Sultan Alam Shah[10] and then at SMK Sultan Abdul Samad[11] a prominent high school in the Petaling Jaya district. He was very socially active in the 10th PJ Scouts[12], attending many campfires and gatherings from the other high schools and was also a Prefect during that time.
He then further his studies and obtained a diploma in Computer Studies from the UOW Malaysia KDU university[13] (formerly known as KDU College) but couldn't complete his bachelor's degree and was later dropout due to financial constraints.
Early career
His first part-time job after high school was working in an MPH bookstore at 1Utama Shopping Mall[14] one of the most famous bookstore chains in Malaysia during the 90's and that's where he got to learn about systematic shelving and cataloging. After dropping out of college, he worked for a web hosting company, and it was during this time that he got to know deeply how the World Wide Web and the Internet work by helping customers to park their web domain names and websites for his company.
Not long after, he went on to work for another IT company as an accounts officer that helps to handle all daily financial transactions of the company, it was here that KC began to learn the art of typing fast with the use of many keyboard strokes and shortcuts which would further aid him later as a self-taught programmer for his social media websites.
He often liked to head to the cinemas at the 1Utama Shopping mall[15] after a hard day's work in the office and it was at this time that he thought about writing during his free time. He ventured into script writing but couldn't manage to find a buyer for his film script. He then later tried his skill as a novel writer based on Science Fiction and Horror being his most favorite genres at tapas.io[16] but his works are still in progress.
Broadcast industry
After wasting 4 years working in the IT company as an accounts officer and heading nowhere in his career, KC felt the calling for something greater in his life and therefore decided to jump to the broadcast industry which was completely unrelated to his computer studies. He then worked for a very famous MNC company known as PlayBox Technology (UK) Ltd[17] in 2010 which was the pioneer of the Channel-in-a-Box Video Playout Automation solution and that was the starting point of his career in the broadcast industry. He worked only for 3 years with PlayBox before deciding to venture out on his own by forming his very own broadcast system integrator company known as Mirack Technologies Sdn Bhd[18] with another partner that was also very well known in setting up IT and Network infrastructures especially for Media Prima Berhad.[19]
However, due to conflicting mindsets, the partnership didn't last long. Shortly after, KC formed another company known as Amrick Solutions Sdn. Bhd. in 2013 and since then was very successful in many system integration projects across Malaysia and also throughout South-East Asia with many prominent customers obtained throughout his career such as from Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Telekom Malaysia (TM), Media Prima Berhad, Perbadanan Kemajuan Filem Nasional Malaysia (FINAS), Lazada Malaysia, Phnom Penh Cable TV (PPCTV) and South-East Asia Television (SEA TV) from Cambodia, Myawaddy TV from Myanmar, including the famous Maldives Business Network Channel[20] in the Malé capital of Maldives.
Social media websites
KC's first thought of inventing a social media website back then was in 2014.[21] The idea was actually envisioned onboard an MRT trip in Singapore during one of the annually held Broadcast Asia (BCA) tradeshow and exhibition[22]. After a long day visiting principals and customers during the BCA tradeshow and with no further plans for the evening and since he enjoyed going to the cinemas all the time, he wished that he could watch a movie with another moviegoer instead. Therefore, the idea was born but he needed to do more research on how to start an Internet business and also on how to develop a website from scratch. The idea finally came to fruition with the domain name bought as lockabee.com pronounced as "Lock-A-Bee" and it was finally purchased on November 5, 2019. The reason the name was chosen was due to the metaphor that "All humans are like bees, always buzzing around with their hectic lives and if we want to find another bee to connect with, we have to locate and lock our time with them." The website was fully developed and finally launched on January 14, 2021, and back then had more than 10,000 users actively using the site worldwide before it was shut down in 2023 due to financial constraints.
During the COVID-19 pandemic that struck badly in its first year, KC felt the need to start a different approach in trying to make a living during the first lockdown period on March 18, 2020, which was implemented by the Malaysian government. As the Movement Control Order (MCO) took effect, it was a tough period with many people struggling to survive, and many businesses fell apart. The broadcast industry was also hit badly as most system integration projects which usually take many months to materialize were all shelved until the economy was stabilized. It was during the MCO that KC thought of creating another social dating website with the goal of helping others who were stuck at home but still wanted to connect and date with new people out there who lived nearby them even though the global lockdown was still in effect.
Therefore, FindnMatch[23] and FindnMeet[24] were invented with the sole purpose of helping individuals to look for their soulmates online and within their vicinity all while still in their lockdowns. The reason why KC created two dating websites earlier instead of one as he wanted to test the market to find out which of his dating websites were performing better. Eventually both of them were doing well with FindnMatch[25] was catered more to the Asian market while FindnMeet[26] catered more to the western counterparts due to the amount of people that signed up on both those platforms before it ceased operation in 2023 due to financial constraints.
Name change
While working hard jumbling between his company's Broadcast System Integration projects and also on his personal social media projects, KC fell into a diabetic coma for 13 days due to his high blood sugar levels by drinking too much coffee and also pomegranate juice. He suffered a cardiac arrest and subsequently collapsed at Klink Selva[27] on July 21, 2021. Fortunately, he was successfully resuscitated by the well-known Doctor Selva himself through CPR and with the use of a defibrillator eventually. He was then quickly rushed to the Serdang Hospital CICU and was warded for 26 days before being discharged to perform self-recovery and therapy at home which lasted for another 5 more months.
Given with a second chance to live in life, KC decided to change his professional name on the new year of 2022 with a resolution in mind and henceforward will be known as KC Veins. KC stands for his initial name as Kok Chuan which also means as Nation Power in Chinese and therefore, he has chosen Veins which symbolizes blood and life to complete the full meaning as Nation Power of Abundance.

KC was invited by Forever Group to give a formal presentation and demonstration of the latest Channel-in-a-Box Video Playout Automation to the Union Minister for Information & Culture, Myanmar - U Kyaw Hsan, which was later further acquired by the MRTV Myanmar National broadcaster on December 13, 2011[28]

KC was interviewed live on the MRTV-4 [29] television channel on November 21, 2012, where he gave a talk about the latest technologies in IP Streaming Playout and also on Media Asset Management (MAM) at the FG-ABU Digital Broadcasting Conference for Asian Broadcasters in Yangon, Myanmar.
Podcast
KC was also featured on In The Hub Ep 21 – OTT Broadcasting – w/ KC Lee[30] a famous weekly podcast from PlayBox Technology to talk about the OTT technology and its business implementation. KC also provides the OTT CMS solution for anyone who wishes to start a business like Netflix, Disney+ or even similar to YouTube which can also be found from his Amrick OTT CMS[31] website.

KC successfully procured a prominent project with the Malaysian National Broadcaster, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM)[32] back in 2022 and was also featured as an International Trade Council Featured Member[33] on the ITC website[34].
Personal life
He has two sons namely Victor Lee Chong Ming and Daniel Lee Chong Zhen.
