Lee Murphy (born September 25, 1951)[1] is a Delaware politician and the current Republican Party nominee for Delaware's at-large congressional district. Murphy is a current candidate for the 2020 United States House of Representatives election in Delaware to unseat sitting Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester. [2] Murphy worked for most of his life for Amtrak as a conductor (rail) and manager. [3] Murphy has also appeared in Netflix's House of Cards (American TV series)

Political Career[edit]

Mr. Murphy has run for political office several times, and in 2018 narrowly lost the republican primary during the 2018 United States House of Representatives election in Delaware to candidate Scott Walker[4]. Walker would famously go on to be renounced[5] by the Delaware Republican Party and lose the congressional election.

2020 election[edit]

Murphy once again ran for the lone congressional seat in 2020, and on June 25, 2019 announced his candidacy for the republican nomination. Murphy ran against Matthew M. Hathaway Morris and on September 15, 2020 received 73.81% of the vote with Morris collecting only 26.1%.[6] Murphy will go on to face Lisa Blunt Rochester in the general election on November 3, 2020.
