Education
Lee Tompkins attended Public School 158 located in East New York, Brooklyn, and then he went on to Junior High School IS 302, Thomas Jefferson High School, and New York Tech College where Tompkins studied advertising art and design. During Tompkins' public school days, he noticed that he had a gift for drawing at the age of 5. His mother, Lovina Tompkins, was so amazed at her son's talent that she purchased him his first set of art supplies when he was 5 years old. By the time Lee was 14, he had won many art awards in school, and during his downtime he would sneak off to the village in New York City after school to be in the surroundings of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Lee is considered to be America's greatest pencil artist.[citation needed] Lee Tompkins has a painting in the White House in Washington, D.C.[citation needed]
