Lee Wilson, also known as Coach Lee, is an American author,[1] relationship coach,[2][3] and marketing consultant. He is the Founder of My Ex Back Coach,[4][5] a digital platform offering breakup and dating-based consultation, incorporating Emergency Breakup Kit, Emergency Marriage Kit, and Peace From Anxiety. Wilson also runs Marriage Radio, a site for marriage coaching, and is an online educator for TED Talk.

About[edit]

Wilson grew up in the southern United States and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, after college. He attended Freed-Hardeman University and Trevecca Nazarene University, majoring in Counseling and Human Development.

Career[edit]

In early 2000, Wilson started working with a nonprofit marriage guidance organization as a writer. He was later promoted to the position of marriage consultant. Currently, he provides his coaching content through his YouTube channel, the My Ex Back Coach website for breakup and relationship issues, and through Marriage Radio, a marriage-enrichment publication.[6]

In addition to his certifications and professional observation of client cases since the year 2000, Lee cites his own breakups and relationships in the past as enlightening his teachings and theories.[7] He offers virtual dating[8] and conventional relationship advice globally.

Major media often request Wilson to analyze reality shows such as Love Is Blind and The Bachelor to dissect individuals' emotional stability threshold in relationships. He is also often cited for opinion and insight into celebrity breakups.[9][10][11] He also coaches his clients on the concept of limerence, a term coined by American psychologist Dorothy Tennov.[12]

Wilson has lectured at Pepperdine University and Lipscomb University and assisted with Ph.D. research projects on relationships and the science of human attraction. He was an on-air contributor for Give and Take, a national radio show about relationships.[13]

Teachings

Wilson’s YouTube videos often center around the No Contact Rule, a strategy and core principle Wilson says “is used by someone who has been broken up with in order to get an ex romantic partner back and to help the one who was broken up with to reclaim some control of the situation by choosing not to contact the person who severed the relationship.”

Wilson is often cited as an authority on the scientific concept of Limerence as being a concept both good and bad that can serve to re-attract an ex but also attract them into a relationship with another person such as in cases of affairs.

Wilson often discusses his theories related to what someone feels and thinks after breaking up with another person and those theories are what shape his teachings on how someone can attempt to reunite with the one who left them. His coaching is often to “give the other person the breakup,” meaning that the person who was left shouldn’t try to convince the other to give them another chance by begging, pleading, giving gifts, etc., but should simply stay away from them without any contact. According to Wilson, this causes the “dumper,” to experience a “real” breakup where the person they left isn’t part of their life anymore. According to Wilson, this is a way to encourage real consideration of whether the breakup was a mistake or not and can result in the leaving lover to miss the person he or she left.

Other topics about which Wilson provides coaching, guidance, and opinions on his YouTube channel include human attraction, mindfulness, success in life, and managing anxiety.

Wilson is often interviewed regarding personality types or Enneagram Types and how differing personalities can have success in relationships. He often states that there is no perfect combination of personalities and that any personality combination can have a great relationship if each person puts a proper focus on empathy for the other person along with respect.[14]
