Legora (formerly Leya) is a Swedish software company that develops artificial intelligence tools used in the legal sector. Founded in 2023 and based in Stockholm, it produces applications for document review, legal research, and workflow automation.[1]

History

Legora was founded in 2023 by Max Junestrand and Sigge Labor.[1][2] It has offices in Stockholm, New York, and London.[3]

Growth and development

Legora raised a total of USD 116 million between 2024 and 2025 across three funding rounds.[4][5][6]

Junestrand discussed the company’s early development and investment history in an interview on The Twenty Minute VC podcast.[7]

In June 2025, The Legal Wire published a profile of Legora’s growth, describing how the company develops AI tools in collaboration with legal professionals.[8]

In August 2025, the Financial Times mentioned Legora in a report on Sweden’s AI sector, quoting Junestrand as saying the company had “no plans to sell”.”[9]

The company rebranded from Leya to Legora in February 2025.[10] Later that year, Sifted listed Legora among European AI “soonicorns” expected to reach a USD 1 billion valuation.[11]

As of August 2025, Legora reported having around 400 clients, including Taylor Wessing, Cleary Gottlieb, Bird & Bird, Goodwin Procter, Pérez-Llorca, and Mannheimer Swartling.[12]

Products and services

Legora develops legal software for document review, research, drafting, and workflow automation.[13] The Financial Times reported that Junestrand described Legora’s technology as a tool intended to assist legal professionals rather than replace them.[14]

The platform integrates with document management systems such as iManage, SharePoint, and Microsoft Word. It uses natural-language processing to support document automation and search functions across multiple databases.[15][16]
