Leigh Christie (born April 8, 1980) is a NYC-based entrepreneur, engineer, inventor.[1], and public speaker.

Christie is best known for his creation of the Mondo Spider, an 8-legged 2,000 lb pure-electric walking vehicle that has been exhibited globally[2]. He is the founder[3] of the eatART Foundation in Vancouver, BC where the Mondo Spider remains in residency. Christie is also the founder MistyWest Engineering[4], a Vancouver based engineering consulting firm.

In 2014, Christie invented and exhibited the world's first human-tracking heat spotlight at the Venice Biennale of Architecture curated by Rem Koolhaas[5][6].

Christie is also the inventor of a folding concealable skateboard[7][8]. He also invented the silent pickup-cup[9] and the "ice drain" fuel cell plate[10]

Christie holds a Masters Degree from the Art Culture and Technology program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds an undergraduate degree from the Engineering Physics Program at the University of British Columbia.

Christie is currently the director of the Isobar NowLab for North and South America. At the NowLab, Christie is focused on VR[11], machine learning, wearable power, internet-of-things and consumer electronics.
