Leo F. Stelten (August 11, 1925 – 2025) was an American church scholar who wrote a number of books on the Ecclesiastical Latin language.

Biography

He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 11, 1925. His parents were Theodore and Esther Martens Stelten.[1]

He died in 2025.[2]

Education

He completed his high school education at the Nazareth Hall High School.[3]

He completed his Ph.D. in classics at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.[4]

Career

He served as a professor of Classical Languages at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio.[5]

He served as an assistant cataloguer of old books in the A.T. Wehrle Memorial Library.[6]

Bibliography

He is best known for his Dictionary of Ecclesiastical Latin.[7]
