Leonid Dukhovny
Leonid "Joseph" Samoilovich Dukhovny (born July 18, 1938, Kyiv) - poet, musician, bard. Lives in San Francisco. He writes songs to his poems. There are songs on verses of other poets.[1] He wrote about 200 songs. The most famous are “Hem”, “Waltz of Two”, “Let's Talk”; Kiev cycle: “Hem (“ But without Hem Kiev is impossible ”)”, “Evbaz”, “Shulyavka”, “Raw”, “Bessarabka”, etc .; parodies - translation into Ukrainian of songs by V. S. Vysotsky from the movie "Vertical", "Radio in the Mountains"; romances “Waltz of Two”, “Autumn in the Forest”, “Swan”, “Beloved, Waiting”, “I Thought Autumn”; household - “Geary”, “Bessarabka - 2”; philosophical lyrics - “Sages”, “Do not leave”, “Let's talk”, “Wishes”. [2] Leonid's song "А Без Подола Киев Невозможен" ("There is no Kyiv without Podol") is one of the most famous songs in Kyiv known by most residents of Kyiv.[3]
Biography[edit]
He studied, created and defended his thesis in Moscow (IISS, VZISI). The first song (paraphrase) was written in 1952-1953.[4]
He graduated from special courses in AP (directing) under the Ministry of Culture. One of the organizers of the 1st Kiev KSP “Koster” (headed by him from 1973 to 1992), one of the seven coordinators of the “Union of KSP” (1979-86) - the 1st informal association of the KSP of the USSR. Coordinated the Ukraine-Moldova region. Famous culturologist of the global movement of the PCB.[5][6]
In the former USSR, he was repeatedly repressed for his works and activities. Laureate of AP festivals (particularly Grushinsky-76), member of the jury of regional, union and international festivals (Moscow, Chimgan, Minsk, Riga, Leningrad, Kiev, Ottawa, San Francisco and others).[7]
Since September 14, 1992 he has been living in the city of San Francisco, USA and on October 19, 1992 he organized the Poetry Song Club (PCB) “Peninsula” (San Francisco, Bay Area), which he runs to this day. Within the framework of the 2nd Peninsula 96 Open All-American Festival, together with B. Holstein, he held the constituent assembly of the Arka association (Association of Russian-speaking Clubs and Songwriters USA), where he was elected and. about. The President.[8][9]
The author of a number of articles and theoretical developments on the problems and history of Avtorskaya Pesnia. He lectured at universities (in particular - in Kemerovo, the USSR and Stanford, California, USA). Songs, articles and poems were printed in collections, booklets, magazine selections, periodicals. In 1998, a CD with 20 songs was released, in 1999 - an audio cassette. Many songs are copyrighted. There were cases when authorship was restored in court.[10]
