Leslie Wolfe (born 1967) is an American author of psychological thrillers and crime fiction. She has been published by Bookouture (an imprint of Hachette UK), Grand Central Publishing, and Thomas & Mercer, with her books translated into more than twenty languages, including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian.[5][6][7][8][9]
Her 2023 thriller The Surgeon reached no. 1 on the UK Kindle Store and remained in the U.S. Amazon Charts top 100 for more than three months. It was selected by Reviewed.com as one of the best mystery books of 2023.[10]
Career
Wolfe published her debut novel, Executive, in 2011.[11]
In 2020, Bookouture announced a three-book deal with Wolfe for the Detective Kay Sharp series, introducing criminal psychologist Kay Sharp as protagonist.[12] The first installment, The Girl from Silent Lake, was released in February 2021. Bookouture subsequently re-signed Wolfe for additional titles in the Kay Sharp series and standalone thrillers in 2022.[13][14]
Her 2023 standalone novel, The Surgeon, was a commercial success, reaching the top of the Kindle chart in the UK and earning a print edition release in the U.S. by Grand Central Publishing. The book was highlighted in Reviewed.com’s year-end list of best mystery thrillers.[15]
In September 2023, Bookouture signed Wolfe for another psychological thriller, following the success of The Surgeon.[5]
In 2025, Thomas & Mercer acquired Wolfe’s novel Ransom and a second book in a two-book deal brokered by Robert Gottlieb of Trident Media. Publishers Weekly described Ransom as “a fast-paced, addictive thriller about a sophisticated socialite who manipulates the rich—only to be framed for murder.” Publication is scheduled for summer 2026.[16]
Her works have been promoted internationally by Hachette UK at major trade fairs, including the London Book Fair 2024 (If I Go Missing)[17] and the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 (The Hospital).[18]
Writing style and themes
Publishers and reviewers have described Wolfe’s writing as high-concept, twist-driven, and cinematic in pacing. Her novels frequently feature strong female leads, psychological suspense, and technology-driven plots. Bookouture described her as delivering “jaw-dropping reveals and pulse-pounding action every time.”[5]
