Let Iraq Live is a 1998 documentary following the anti-war activism and protests surrounding the 1990 Iraqi sanctions directed, produced, and edited by anti-war advocate Gloria La Riva. The film was debuted in the University of Buffalo's north campus in Amherst, New York on 13 October 1993[1] and was subsequently released on film. The film acts as a companion video to the book Challenge to Genocide: Let Iraq Live by Ramsey Clark.[3]
Synopsis
The film follows the lives and journey of 84 American individuals tasked with sending millions of dollars worth of medicine to Iraqi civilians. The film explicitly exposes the toll on Iraqi life as the sanctions from the United States and the United Nations against Iraq unfolded, as the protest group Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq claims.[3]
Availability
Currently, there are only six documented copies of this documentary, all of which are located in the central and eastern regions of the United States.[2] The availability of this film during its initial debut in 1998 is unknown. The tape was allegedly given to the International Action Center for distribution, however this cannot be confirmed as the official website for the IAC does not document this film. An Internet Archive item allows the entire documentary to be viewed online for free.[4]
