Letisha Wyatt is an American scientist. She is a Ph.D. researcher in Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology, is the Director of Diversity in Research and assistant professor of neurology at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU)[1][2][3]. Wyatt is a historian and co-founder of The Alliance for Visible Diversity in Science program[4][5] and the director of the neuroscience postbac initiative at OHSU[6].

Biography

Wyatt grew up in Turlock, California and attended Turlock High School[5]. Her father was a truck driver and her mother was a cosmetologist.[5]

Wyatt majored in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior at UC Davis[5]. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology Graduate Program [7]. Her graduate advisors were Ron Alkana and Daryl Davie’s lab and she studied the role of purinergic receptors in alcoholic behaviors[5][8][9]. After completing her Ph.D. in 2013, she completed postdoctoral training in the R.S. Dow Neurobiology Laboratory at the Legacy Research Institute in Portland[5][7], Oregon and later joined Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) as the Basic Science Liaison/Research Data Management Librarian [7].

Wyatt is the director of Diversity and Research at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)[5][10]. Wyatt is also a historian and co-founder of The Alliance for Visible Diversity in Science program[4][5][11], the director of the neuroscience postbac initiative at OHSU[6] and a co-director of OHSU Fellowship for Diversity in Research[12].

She co-authored an open letter about the disparate impact of Covid-19 upon minority populations.[13]
