From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Initially known as Qualiquan, LiGRE Software is a web application for qualitative data analysis (QDA) developed by Logiciels Ex-l-tec inc., based in Trois-Rivières, Canada. LiGRE Software was developed in part with the financial support of the National Research Council of Canada (CNRC) and its Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).[1] LiGRE provides tools for organizing, coding, annotating, weighing, and retrieving significant information in qualitative data.[2] It is used mainly by academics and researchers in cultural anthropology, medical anthropology[3][4], psychology, and sociology.

    Description

Like other QDA software, LiGRE aims to help researchers uncover links and patterns within a data set. To this end, it enables researchers to code, categorize, and weigh the important information found from one document to another. Features like query functions, quick links, and graphs are also available to retrieve information and help build theories more rapidly. Researchers working on the same projects can also help interpret the data by sharing notes and exchanging ideas via a bookmark system.

In LiGRE, the analyzed data set can be composed of UTF-8-encoded documents, images, PDF documents, tables, spreadsheets, audio, and video files. Right-to-left reading and coding are enabled for languages that use right-to-left scripts. A built-in automatic transcription module is available to help generate transcripts for uploaded audio and video files.[5]

LiGRE is compatible with several research methods from inductive (e.g., grounded theory)[6] and deductive (e.g., framework approach) methodologies.[7]

LiGRE's cloud-based environment is accessible on most operating systems, provided they are connected to the internet. Its user interface is available in English and French.
