Li Zhu'er

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Li Zhu'er (李豬兒,李猪儿) (?—?), an assassin during the An-shi Rebellion in the Tang Dynasty of China, and a eunuch of the Yan State founded by An Lushan (安禄山).

He was born in the Khitan tribe and began to serve An Lushan when he was a teenager. He was very cunning and intelligent. An Lushan castrated him with a knife. He bled for several liters and almost died. An Lushan smeared ash on his wound. After a whole day, his body recovered. Later he became An Lushan's personal eunuch and was favored by him. An Lushan had a large belly. Every time he put on clothes and tied his belt, three or four people’s help was needed. Two people were responsible for lifting the belly. Li Zhu'er then lifted the belly with his head and tied the belt. Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty favored An Lushan and allowed him to bathe in Huaqing Pool. He also allowed Li Zhu'er and others to come in to help him undress and dress.

An Lushan rebelled against the Tang Dynasty and claimed to be Emperor Dayan. His eyesight gradually decreased and he was almost blind. He had malignant sores on his body and became more irritable. Li Zhu'er was beaten frequently. An Lushan doted on his youngest son An Qingen (安慶恩). Prince An Qingxu and his minister Yan Zhuang (嚴莊) planned to kill him. Yan Zhuang encouraged Li Zhu'er, saying, "Are you still counting the severe beatings you received before and after? If you don't do something big, I'm afraid your death is not far away!" Li Zhu'er agreed to act together. On the night of the first day of the first lunar month in 757 ( the second year of Zhide ), Yan Zhuang and An Qingxu stood outside the An Lushan palace tent with weapons in hand. Li Zhu'er entered the tent with a big knife in his hand and slashed at An Lushan's abdomen. People around An Lushan were afraid and dared not move. An Lushan couldn't reach the knife next to the pillow with his hand, so he shook the pole of the tent with his hand and said, "This must have been done by a house thief." A lot of intestines flowed out, and he died immediately. Li Zhu'er's fate is unknown.
