Libertad (Philip Morris front)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Libertad, Inc. was a Philip Morris front group with global "chapters".[1] It was created for the tobacco industry by Andrew Whist, then the head of Philip Morris International's Corporate Affairs division.

It was designed as a "Freedom-to-advertise" promotion network, and so it was said to have had chapters in many countries. These were, however, phantom organisations with lists of members signed up by tobacco industry employees and supporting advertising and media agencies.

Libertad hosted judicial seminars for federal judges. Philip Morris controlled the operation of Libertad.[2]
