Lickd is a music licensing platform servicing video content creators and social media influencers on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and TikTok[1]. Lickd is the first, and currently only, music licensing platform to offer pre-cleared mainstream commercial and chart music licenses to video creators, alongside traditional stock music.[2][3][4][5]

Users pay a one-off fee per chart music license, and have the option to subscribe to a stock music library.[6]

Unlicensed use of music in a video uploaded on YouTube would typically result in a copyright claim, and often demonetisation. The company's proprietary license management system, VOUCH, integrates with YouTube's Content ID copyright management system to prevent copyright claims on videos that contain a licensed song, therefore allowing video creators to monetise their content.[4][7][8]

Lickd was originally known as 'Hookd', but re-branded to Lickd in late 2017.[9]

In 2017, Lickd joined the Abbey Road Red startup incubator[10], and in 2018 the company was a finalist in the Midemlab startup contest.[7]

In Q1 2019, Lickd secured a £1.7million investment from investors including Pink Floyd's Nick Mason[10] and The Pentland Group.

In Q2 2021, Lickd published a 'Social Salary Calculator' tool, which garnered coverage from publications such as Daily Mail[11], CNBC[12], Yahoo[13], Vice[14] and more.

In Q1 2022, Lickd launched a stock music library in collaboration with Audio Network.[2][15][16]
