Lieutenant Vladimir Karpovich Kotlinsky

Vladimir Karpovich Kotlinsky commanded a 13 company of 226 Regiment Zemlyansky and died on August 6, 1915 during the defense of the fortress of Osowiec, when the Germans used chemical weapons. The fight was called "the attack of the dead men" and went down in history as an unprecedented feat committed in inhumane conditions a chemical attack. Lieutenant Kotlinsky was buried near the third serf of the Osovet sky hospital, but later, at the initiative of his mother, reburied in the city of Pskov. September 26, 1916 Vladimir Kotlinsky was awarded posthumously the Order of St. George of the 4th degree.
