LifeSource Water Systems is an American water treatment products company headquartered in Pasadena, California. LifeSource Water manufacturers and distributes drinking water treatment units.[1] The company currently has 80 employees, and distributes water treatment systems throughout the U.S.
History[edit]
LifeSource Water Systems Inc. was founded in 1984 by Robert J. Wright. Robert J Wright, from Shelbyville, Kentucky, attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Wright was approached by friend John Young Brown Jr.., to sell Encyclopædia Britannica, door to door.[2] Encyclopedia sales lead him to Glendale, California as Vice President of Collier. During his tenure at Collier, Wright gave John Paul DeJoria his first job selling Encyclopedia’s door to door. DeJoria went on to cofound John Paul Mitchell Systems and the Patrón.
While in Glendale in 1984, Wright was asked by a family friend to help create and market a water system that did not use salt. Their main goal in starting LifeSource Water Systems was to produce a salt-free whole house water softener alternative.[3] In 1985 Wright developed and began to market the first no salt whole-house water system. In 2008 LifeSource Water was awarded the trademark for “Whole-House Water System” by the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Since 2001, LifeSource Water systems have been independently tested and certified by NSF International accredited laboratory. Since 2016 LifeSource products are tested and certified by IAPMO.
In 2006, an environmental activist Ed Begley Jr. joined LifeSource as a spokesperson.
LifeSource Water Systems was the exclusive water system of the Rose Parade from 2007 through 2011. In 2007 the LifeSource Tournament of Roses Parade float won the Animation Award for Best Animation and Motion.[4] American Idol star Katharine McPhee, performed her single from her debut CD on the LifeSource float. McPhee made Rose Parade history by being the first live (no lip-syncing) vocal performer in Rose Parade history.[5] In the 2008 Rose Parade, the LifeSource Rose Parade float won the Bob Hope Humor Trophy for Most Comical and Amusing.[6]
In August 2017, LifeSource Water Systems was added to the Inc. (magazine) as one of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S.[7]
