Lê Chí Công (born February 16, 1995) is more commonly known by his stage name LilRik and is a rapper, musician. He is known as a rapper from Viet Nam.
Biography
LilRik was born and raised in the district An Minh, province Kien Giang in a family that follows Buddhism, and has three siblings, of whom he is the youngest. With his passion and ability, the singer gradually receives a lot of love from young people who listen to music[1].
Music activities
When he started rapping, he faced opposition from his family, who did not support him[2]. But after he was one of the two artists who won the YUNO THIS ONE award[3] in 2013, his family gradually accepted it, though they were not fully supportive because they still thought rapping was not a very popular subject in the country at that time.
Initially, he found it difficult to get into rap because there was no one to guide or teach him, so he had to figure everything out himself, such as how to flow, write lyrics, and record. Increasingly, he gained more experience and was gradually recognized by the Underground community after the end of 2012. After collaborating with a number of other rappers, especially on the song "Lỗi! Tại anh " with LilTy, LilRik's name became more known and liked.
In 2014, LilRik collaborated with LilTy to release "Lặng Lẽ Nhìn Em," which resonated greatly in the Underground community. He continued with LilTy to write "Cấm[4]" and "Lời Cuối" (combined with Young K and Huy Koi). These products are considered to have established the identity of the LilTy-LilRik duo.[5]
LilRik was one of the first rappers to break out of the underground while still maintaining his passion[6], so he has suffered a lot of criticism from rappers who do not share his opinion. He is considered eccentric by some in the scene, but he has proven his strong passion.[7]
LilRik was one of the first rappers to succeed and change the prejudice against rap music in Vietnam.
