History[edit]
Links Academy was established in 2007 by Greenwich Education Group, an organization which also runs both The Pinnacle School and The Spire School. The school's mission is to create an outstanding 1:1 school experience in a nurturing, empowering, and collaborative community that honors the academic diversity of all learners.[2] Links strives to foster relationships and challenge its students to create a successful and meaningful academic opportunity while building a confident and sound foundation that will enable them to navigate their future endeavors.[3]
Academics[edit]
Links Academy offers both short and long-term open enrollment with flexible scheduling, as well as options for year-round instruction. This flexible scheduling allows Links to tailor a program to meet the unique needs to each student in order to enable them to realize their potential.[4] The school also incorporates a distance learning program, designed specifically for students who need a flexible and customized accredited schooling option.[5] Links offers courses in subjects for all educational levels, including remedial, regular, honors, and AP-level work for students in grades 8-12.[6]
Full-year[7][edit]
Students who struggle in a traditional classroom setting, prefer a 1:1 learning environment, are interested in taking atypical courses not offered at most schools, or those who require unusual schedules (such as athletes, performing artists, and students with unusual medical conditions). The program is 10-12 months long with a 60 minute 1:1 class format. Students receive an individualized schedule depending on their personal needs.
Short-term[8][edit]
Middle and high school students who are in need of a temporary placement between schools, partial credit recovery, or are on a leave of absence from their current school. Students can either continue the curriculum from their current school or begin the Links Academy curriculum. Students have the option of a minimum three week, full quarter, full trimester, or full semester course. Students receive an individualized schedule depending on their personal needs.
Distance Learning[9][edit]
Students on an extended leave from school (medical or homebound instruction), elite student athletes and performers, students who prefer an individualized learning program, or those who need to earn credit for a course their home-school doesn't offer. The curriculum is modified to meet the needs of each student. Students can receive credit from either Links or a collaborating school, and the pace of the curriculum is determined through collaboration between the student and their academic team.
Accelerated Learning[10][edit]
Students who are looking to complete their curriculum at a faster pace than what is offered in the traditional classroom setting. The program is 6-8 weeks in duration depending on the student's schedule, goals, and course level. Sessions last 2-3 hours a day with 1:1 instruction.
