Lionel Barnes (born 12 January 1980),[1] popularly known as Lionel B, is an American entertainer and media personality known for his channel titled Lionel B Show on YouTube.[2][3] He is from Panama City, Florida, USA.[4] His YouTube channel focuses on hip hop news, radio, and social media entertainment items. He has posted viral videos about Jay-z and Nipsey Hussle.
Personal Life
Lionel was born in Panama City, Florida, to a school principal and a registered nurse.[1] In 1993, he traveled with his mother to Naples, Italy, while he was still in high school. He lived in Germany and Italy during his teenage years.[1] [2] He joined the Air Force after he left high school, then he started showing interest in music production after a brief stay in the Air Force.[4][3] He learned video editing, professional lighting, camera operation, music engineering, and related skills at IADT Tampa before he dropped out of school to pursue his music production and videography career. Music Production
During his time at IADT Tampa, he established a record label and music production company named TightGrip Media.[1] His company produced music for hip hop artists like Duece Poppi, Slip-n-Slide, Jody Breeze, Plies, and Lark Voorhies. Later on, he started posting videos on YouTube. [1][4]
Digital media
In 2018, his YouTube channel started gaining more attention when he posted a video about Nipsey Hussle’s murder in Crenshaw.[3] Also in 2018, he posted a video about the clash between Jay-z, Beyoncé, and Offset.[1] The video has more than six million views on YouTube. In addition, he released another video about the first daughter of Jay-z named La’Teasha Macer.[3] In the video, he interviewed Jay-z’s old friend, Dehaven Irby. Presently, the YouTube channel of Lionel B has 328,000 subscribers with around 82,000,000 views. Also, his Instagram page has 190,000 followers.[4][1]
