Lionel Reina (born 1968) is a French-born business executive, currently working as the CEO of APO Group.[1]

Reina studied in Germany and began his 20-year career in Frankfurt, but has since worked in every global market except Asia-Pacific.[2] He has worked for several companies in different sectors, including telecommunications, IT security and consulting – most notably Orange, Accenture and Damovo

Biography[edit]

Reina holds a BA degree from the Groupe École De Superieur De Commerce in Bordeaux, France. He went on to study in Germany at the Fachhochschule Münster, picking up a diploma in Business Administration.[1]

In 1994, Reina began his career at T-Systems Enterprise Services in Frankfurt, Germany, where we worked for four years, departing as the Director for International Business Development.[1] In 1998, he moved to the United States to work for Global One in Reston as the Head of Sales and Marketing.[3] In 2001, When the company merged with Equant (which became Orange Business Services in 2006), Reina was relocated to London where he acted as the Vice-President of Sales for Western Europe until 2004, when he became the General Manager for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.[3]

On April 22, 2012, Lionel Reina was appointed General Delegate and Chairman of Orange Business Services Saudi Arabia – otherwise known as Orange Business Arabia) – a business-to-business division of the Orange Group.[4] During this role Reina was elected Vice President of the French Chamber of Commerce (FBC) in Dubai.[3]

After a brief spell working for Accenture in Dubai, Reina joined Simstream, a specialist network and IT security company based in Paris and Dubai, in December 2014. On 15 January 2015, Reina was announced as the new Group CEO of the company.[3] He left the company in November 2016, before joining Damovo, a company based in Brussels that specialises in professional communication services.[5][6] In July 2018, Damovo was acquired by Eli Global in a €140 million deal.[7] Reina left the company in October that year.

On 6 December 2018, Reina was announced as the new CEO of APO Group, a consulting firm based in London.[1][8][9]

Personal life[edit]

Reina loves football and could have been a football player himself, but he gave up the dream for ICT instead. Reina supports English club Arsenal as well as French team Olympique Lyonnais. He believes running a business is similar to running a sports team. Reina was quoted saying “You need the right players at the right place,” adding that the right mix of leaders and team players is vital to the success of any business organisation or sports team. He is married to a Venezuelan woman, and together they have two daughters.[2]
