About Lions Cup[edit]

Lions Cup tournaments, is an Ice hockey, ringette, and soccer -tournament played in Czech Republic and Finland since 2004. The tournament gathers together youth teams from Europe & North America and is played three times a year, every December, April, and August in both countries.

Name[edit]

The Name “Lions Cup” comes from the braveness of young players and the power of will of a lion. Lion is also the coat of arms of Finland & Czech Republic. Lions Cup Tournaments are organised by local youth clubs together with Pelimatkat Sports Travel, A Finnish sports travel agency.

Legacy of Lions Cup[edit]

As an international tournament for young players, Lions Cup is working to unite people by combining a sport and leisure. International tournaments are hard to manage, and especially for young players there aren't that many ways to experience international sports events. When people come together, good memories cultural learning and a global understanding is created. The tournaments are held in a way that while staying for sports carers and players have still a way to learn about the local history and culture.

Hosting[edit]

All Lions Cup -tournaments are hosted by local team or local teams together. Then other teams are invited to take part of the tournament as ambassadors for their local level of talent and teams.

As a youth tournament agegrous U11 to U18 are welcomed to play.

Tournament style[edit]

Lions Cup is a Round Robin -style tournament with play offs. All teams are playing minimum five games. The Helsinki Tournament also occasionally hosts exhibition games in Stockholm, Sweden and

Traveling[edit]

As Lions Cup is a youth tournament, Pelimatkat Sports Travel is managing the logistics of the tournament by providing catered packages to the participating teams. The services provided by Pelimatkat Sports Travel includes hotels, bus transfers, guide services, excursions, meals and all tournament fees.
