Lipoker is an online poker card room for play money that opened in May 2020.[2] The site was created during the COVID-19 pandemic[3] to address quarantine poker needs. The site can be accessed at lipoker.io.
Users access the site and can create play money home games for friends with videochat. Creating a room does not require logging in or downloading a client, distinguishing it from existing poker rooms. It is a website that is mobile browser compatible and cross-platform.[1]
History
Lipoker initially opened as an online poker room meant for quarantine poker. It was first released to positive reception on Product Hunt on May 22, 2020.[1] It has received endorsements from notable figures such as Ali Partovi.[4]
Lipoker was launched by college students from MIT and UCLA upon learning no good alternative existed for the quarantine.
