Lisa Leshne
Lisa Lauren Frankenberg Leshne (born April 9, 1968) is an American entrepreneur and literary agent.[1] She was the co-founder of The Prague Post[2] and she leads The Leshne Agency,[3] a literary and talent management agency based in New York City.
Early Life and education[edit]
Lisa Leshne (then Lisa Lauren Frankenberg) was born in Champaign, Illinois.[4] She attended University Laboratory High School,[5] The University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB)[6], and Harvard Business School.[7]
Prognosis Newspaper[edit]
At age 22 Frankenberg moved to Prague, Czechoslovakia, shortly after the Velvet Revolution.[8] There, she helped form Czechoslovakia's first English-language newspaper, Prognosis.[9] Frankenberg left Prognosis in July, 1991 after a disagreement with the other co-founders over the direction of the newspaper's future.[10][11]
The Prague Post[edit]
Frankenberg subsequently started and grew The Prague Post as president and publisher for six years.[12][13][14] She continued work with The Prague Post after leaving to attend business school.[15][16]
Bejt Praha[edit]
In 1994, Frankenberg helped start Bejt Praha,[17] the "Open Prague Jewish Community,"[18] with American lawyer Evan Lazar.[19]
Career[edit]
Frankenberg later worked for Anderson Consulting (now Accenture), Dow Jones, and The Wall Street Journal Online.[20][21] She served as executive director for international sales and marketing at WSJ.com until March, 2001.[22][23]
In 2008 Frankenberg, now using her married name (Leshne[24]) joined LJK Literary.[25] In 2011 Leshne started The Leshne Agency LLC, a literary agency and talent management company.[26] Leshne represents authors Ivan Klima, Deborah Copaken, Jesse Itzler, Julissa Arce, Jukebox the Ghost's Tommy Siegel, AJ Mendez (AJ Lee), and Christie Pearce Rampone.[27] In 2021 she sold business memoir “LEVEL UP” by Stacey Abrams and Lara Hodgson to Penguin Portfolio.[28]
Personal life[edit]
In September, 2001, Frankenberg married Jerome Leshne.[29] Together they have two children.[30]
