Lisa Hoang is an Asian American fashion designer and creative director for her brand, LNH, and a stylist located in the Greater Los Angeles area. Spending a majority of her life dedicated to fashion, she has a lot planned for her career and brand's development.
Early life[edit]
Lisa Hoang was born and raised in California which highly influenced her as a designer and person.[1] After watching Chanel's 2000 collection, she became involved in the fashion industry at an early age starting off at school provided art classes and self-teaching art through the internet. At the age of 14, Hoang landed her first fashion internship, at 16 went on to take her first custom bridal client, and was a designer in Charlotte Seen Fashion Week at 17.
Education[edit]
Hoang went on to study at North Carolina State University majoring in Fashion Textile Design from the years of 2012 to 2017. Originally majoring in Textile Engineering, she changed majors going down the textile path, in which she gained more exposure to the fashion industry.[2] Hoang felt more drawn to fashion and textiles during her time as a Textile Engineering major pushing her to take a chance at becoming a Fashion major.
Career[edit]
Since the age of 14 years old, Hoang held several positions, jobs, internships, and opportunities that helped her grow in the fashion industry and as a designer. As a teenager, she was a Wardrobe Intern at Olivia Kole Fashion House in 2010 putting her foot in the door when it came to the assignments of fashion shows. She continued to be a stylist and sales associate at bevello, a fashion retail company. Hoang has also had experience as a design assistant working for Marie Cordella and Cheryl King Couture where she designed and created custom pieces along with tailoring wedding dresses.[3] She has also worked in different parts of the fashion industry such as: Public Relations, Marketing, sewing, distribution, and Creative Director.
While Hoang was in college, she was given the opportunity to participate in New York Fashion Week where she was later recognized as the youngest designer to be invited by IMG (company) at 22 years old. Being part of NYFW allowed Hoang to be viewed as a real designer and brand. After her first NYFW collection, she was invited back to showcase for NYFW again in February. Her brand, Lisa N. Hoang, is her first brand and business. In her Spring/Summer 2018 collection, Hoang uses her designs to display a story of the stages needed to take in order to reach clarity: birth, innocence, rebellion, and desire.
Hoang has gone on to styling and creating pieces for celebrities such as Conan Gray and Sabrina Claudio. In 2019, she was recognized as the designer behind "Coachella's best dressed", Sabrina Claudio, by Teen Vogue.[4] This recent year, Hoang worked with a fellow stylist, Katie Qian, in designing and creating two looks for Conan Gray's Superache Tour. In an interview, Hoang shared she also takes interest in multiple variations of art such as photography and videography. Hoang also created a rendition of Juliet's 1966 dress.
