In 2006 Maulana fazlullah (Fazal Hayat) son in Law of Sufi Muhammad (founder of Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM)), Started an illegal local FM broadcasting in Village Imam dherai (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Swat District), and became famous as a Radio Mulla. His followers were increased Rapidly in 2007.
With the support of more than 4,500 followers, In the aftermath of the 2007 siege of Lal Masjid, Fazlullah had established a "parallel government" in Swat Valley by starting Islamic courts in different Villages of Swat to enforce sharia law. Maulana fazlullah developed a madrassa in village Imam dherai with assistance from the Taliban which was used as his base of operations.
At the start he preaches on Radio and trying to convince people to prevent themselves from major sources of sin such as TVs, CDs, computers and other video equipment. Later Fazlullah has started threatening barbers who shaved their customers' beards, Shopkeepers who were selling TVs, CDs etc, and warned against girls attending schools. He opposed a polio vaccination drive in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
After some months, During nightly broadcasts, prohibited activities are routinely declared and violators' names announced for assassination, which often includes beheading. Fazlullah tried to enforced the Sharia Law in Swat District and violates the Government Law. The Army forces started Operation against Fazlullah group. named Operation Rah-e-Haq, the battle began on October 25, 2007 and involved the Pakistani Army and Taliban-led forces in a fight for control of the Swat district of Pakistan.
Most of the civilians assassinated by the group of Maulana fazlullah due to support of Army forces. While most of the ANP Leaders and workers were assassinated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A lot of civilians martyred during operation, in Target killings, mortar shelling, Suicide Bombing. Pashtuns have paid a lot of sacrifices for Peace in Swat.
